(SOUNDBITE) (English) BREMER, SAYING "Saddam's criminal regime fell roughly ninety days ago. He is not coming back. As Iraqis have come to recognised that Saddam is finished they are coming in in increasing numbers with information on Saddam's whereabouts. All over the country local police and Coalition forces are receiving tips about where the criminals can be found. In the most famous case told us where to find Uday and Qusay. Within hours they were dead. Less than two weeks later we have paid the informant 30 million dollars and we have located him and his family safely outside Iraq. We are going to get Saddam too. The only question is who is going to get the 25 million dollars and move to another country." 1.03 3. SLV NEWS CONFERENCE 1.05 (Question: do you think you will get more information on Saddam if you increase the bounty) 4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) BREMER, SAYING "I don't know whether we will have more attacks when Saddam is killed. It seems to me that, killed or captured, bringing him to justice by death or capture will really draw down a curtain on this terrible tyranny. Maybe a short term increase in attacks, but I hope that will end. In terms of increasing the bounty, the ransom, two points: It is the biggest the United States government has ever offered for the capture of anyone. And the payment which we have made few days to the informant of involved in Uday and Qusay, is the single largest payment the United States government has ever made: $30 million dollars and it was made by far the fastest we have ever made in reward payment before. I think that seriously indicates how seriously the United States government takes this process." 2.03 5. SLV NEWS CONFERENCE 2.08 5. - Story Text: U.S. administrator Paul Bremer said they will find
Saddam the only question remains is who will receive the 25
million dollar bounty.
Bremer held a news conference on Saturday (August 3, 2003)
and said that the Iraqi people now know Saddam is finished
and since his sons were killed last week more and more
information regarding their father's whereabouts is being
offered.
"Saddam's criminal regime fell roughly ninety days ago.
He is not coming back. As Iraqis have come to recognised
that Saddam is finished they are coming in in increasing
numbers with information on Saddam's whereabouts," Bremer
said.
He also took the opportunity to remind the Iraqi people
of the bounty on Saddam's head.
"We are going to get Saddam too. The only question is
who is going to get the 25 million dollars and move to
another country," he told the news conference.
Also on Saturday an explosion has caused damage to
buildings in central Baghdad. It caused material damage to
a bank but no casualties were reported following the blast.
U.S. soldiers were in the area shortly afterwards
looking for clues for the cause of the blast.
Fifty three soldiers have been killed in hostile action since Washington declared major combat over in Iraq on May 1.
