- Story Text: An Iraqi citizen has been killed in clashes which took
place between Iraqis and American soldiers in the restive town
of Falluja west of Baghdad on Friday night.
The Iraqi town of Falluja was the scene of chaos
following clashes with local residents and U.S. soldiers late
on Friday (June 6).
Earlier, 16 people were killed when the residents of
Falluja
clashed with U.S. troops in May.
More U.S. troops had been sent to Falluja, 60km west of
Baghdad to seek those who were launching attacks against the
American forces.
The 3rd Infantry Division distributed pamphlets on Friday
in the town, warning the citizens that they (the American
soldiers) "would detain any curfew violators and anyone
working counter to the coalition and free people of Iraq."
The pamphlet said the curfew was to start at 11:00 pm and
go on to 04:00 am local time.
The American troops issued warnings on loudspeakers on
Thursday (June 6), calling upon the Iraqi citizens in the town
to go indoors.
