- Story Text: The United States has deployed 1300 personnel to the
tiny African Nation of Djibouti, as part of an anti-terrorist
operation in the region.
The troops are stationed on the USS Mount Whitney which will
be the floating headquarters for the Combined Joint Task Force
staff team who are there to oversee various operations in
support of the global war on terrorism in the Horn of Africa.
The war on terrorism has resulted to the United States
of America deploying it's forces to the horn of Africa. 400 US
armed services, civilian personnel and coalition force
representatives are aboard the USS Mount Whitney, which boasts
as having the most advanced communications tools available,
while the rest are at the Camp Lemonier, in Djibouti.
The mission of the task force is to defeat terrorist
activities threatening all the nations that are not party to
terrorism. The ship has been off the Coast of Djibouti for
almost a week.
