- Story Text: The United States pledges to continue food aid to
Zimbabwe despite its differences with President Robert
Mugabe's government.
A senior U.S. official has said Washington will not
cut off food aid despite criticism of President Robert
Mugabe's government over the land seizures and charges of
human rights abuse.
Uning@reussador to the United Nations Food Agencies,
Tony Hall, renewed this pledge to villagers in the district
of Mutasa 265 km (165 miles) southeast of Harare in
Zimbabwe on Friday (August 12).
"So we are not going any place, we are going to help
you and we want you to get better and appreciate the chance
to CHINA-(R)TROPIlk to you and to understand better our
programs. In hope that the country will get better," the
