SOUND OUT: "...our Arab neighbours." 4. GV Council (MUTE) 1.52 "We cannot but regret the human suffering that has ensued as a result of this situation. We thus strongly condemn all acts of aggravation of the situation, all acts of terrorism and counter-terrorism--we passionately condemn these in the name of peace. Terrorism is not a commodity for export. To give an illustration of our total commitment to peace under the spirit of the United Nations charter, Kenya was among the foremost to condemn the cold-blooded murder of Israeli athletes in Munich last year. Equally we did not hesitate to condemn in a forthright manner the almost unprecedented shooting down of the Libyan civil aircraft by the Israelis a few weeks ago, which resulted in the death of over 100 innocent civilians. The complaint by Lebanon cannot be isolated from the question of the future of and the basic human rights of the Palestinians. It cannot be treated in isolation from the question of occupied arab territories. It cannot be dealt with without taking into account the position of the state of Israel and the relations of the state of Israel and her Arab neighbours." - Story Text: Kenya roundly condemned all acts of "terrorism and counter-terrorism" in the Middle East yesterday (Wednesday), when the United Nations Security Council resumed its debate on last week's Israeli assassination raid into Lebanon.
The Kenyan Ambassador, Mr. Joseph Odero-Jowi, added however that the whole question of Middle East subversion could not be divorced from the occupation of Arab countries. And he suggested that the machinery for solving the continuing hostility still existed in the Security Council resolution of November 22nd, 1967. This called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories:
