- Story Text: Family members of the three United States soldiers
being held in Yugoslavia have expressed their delight
following news that their loved ones had been released.
Family and friends of Staff Sergeant Andrew Ramirez
gathered at his parents' Los Angeles home on Sunday (May 2)
showed their relief and happiness that Ramirez along with two
other United States soldiers were coming home after a month in
captivity in Belgrade.
The Rev.Jesse Jackson won the release of the three
soldiers when President Slobodan Milosevic agreed to hand them
over without conditions.Viviana Ramirez thanked the civil
rights leader a "lifesaver" and "hero".
The three soldiers captured by the Yugoslav army last
month were formally released and handed to civil rights leader
Rev.Jesse Jackson on Sunday.They then travelled with Jackson
by road to the border with Croatia.
They were to be flown to a U.S.base in Germany where they
would be reunited with their families.
