- Story Text: Israel launched an air strike on Gaza city on Monday night (March 23), after militants fired two rockets and several mortars from the coastal enclave at the Jewish state, causing no casualties.
The air strike targeted what the Hamas security called an old water well, suggesting a site that may have been a weapons depot. Three civilians were wounded in that attack, medics said.
The wounded were brought to a local hospital for treatment.
Earlier on Monday, Israeli forces opened fire on each other along the Gaza border, killing one of their own soldiers in an incident in which three Palestinian infiltrators were also captured, a military spokesman said.
Tensions have run high along the Israel-Gaza frontier this month, with Israel launching repeated air strikes at the Hamas-ruled territory in response to rocket attacks by militants which killed a Thai worker in southern Israel last week. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
