  • Story Text: Israel launched a missile strike killing three Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday (June 1) after rockets were fired at southern Israel, Palestinian rescue workers said.
    Earlier, the Israeli army confirmed two gunmen were killed after breaching Israel's border fence with the coastal territory, but had no comment on Palestinian reports of a missile strike later in the day.
    Palestinian medics said Israel had fired a missile at northern Gaza, killing three militants.
    A spokesman for the militant Popular Resistance Committees said three of the group's members had been killed in an Israeli air strike over the northern Gaza Strip, one of them a field commander.
    Israel Radio, quoting Palestinian sources, reported that shooting as having occurred after a rocket was fired at southern Israel that apparently caused no casualties.
    Islamic Jihad identified the two men killed earlier as members of their group.
