  • Story Text: Two Hamas militants were killed in an Israeli air strike on a Hamas position in southern Gaza on Saturday (January 12). A third militant was critically wounded in the attack.
    Hamas said the missile hit one of its military positions in the town of Khan Younis and that the two dead men belonged to the organisation's armed wing.
    Israel frequently targets Gaza militants in air and ground attacks as it aims to thwart rocket launchings into nearby towns in the Jewish state.
    In another development in the coastal territory, Hamas security officials said they arrested a Palestinian who was set to detonate a bomb at a gathering hosted by Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh for returning Haj pilgrims on Saturday afternoon.
