- Story Text: Israeli air strike in northern Gaza wounds four Palestinians. The Israeli army says the air strikes were targeted at facilities for producing munitions.
Four Palestinians, including a Hamas policeman and three bystanders, were wounded in one of two air strikes carried out in the Jabalya area in the northern part of Gaza late on Friday (February 13), hospital officials said.
The Israeli army confirmed the strikes and said aircraft had targeted two facilities for producing munitions.
People gathered in the air strike area, and cleared it from debris which was left after the strike.
The wounded were evacuated to a local hospital, where they were treated by medical workers.
Earlier on Friday, Israeli aircraft struck two Palestinian militants on a motorcycle in the Gaza Strip, seriously wounding both, after Islamists in Gaza fired rockets into southern Israel.
An army spokesman said some 40 rockets and mortar bombs had been launched at Israel since a ceasefire had been declared on January 18 and that the air strikes were part of Israel's response.
The day's violence contrasted with expectations that a ceasefire deal for Gaza could be reached within days, following three weeks of talks. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
