- Story Text: Greek taxi drivers protested in front of the parliament building in Athens on Wednesday (April 14).
Protesters on foot carried banners as they walked alongside taxi cabs being driven at slow speed with their horns honking.
The taxi drivers were voicing their opposition to the government's tax reform plan, which is currently being debated in parliament.
Their protest follows a two day strike over the tax reforms being discussed by parliamentarians to cut down on widespread tax evasion in the country.
Taxi drivers are opposed to proposals that would mean they would have to keep regular records of their accounts and issue receipts. They also oppose a rise in fuel tax.
The tax reform bill is part of the government's economic programme to reduce its national debt. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
