- Story Text: Palestinian residents examined on Friday (July 14) damage caused to a bridge and to Hamas office by overnight Israeli airstrikes.
Israeli warplanes hit and destroyed a bridge in the central Gaza Strip, wounding a civilian, Palestinian security sources said. It was the fourth bridge destroyed by Israel since the offensive in Gaza began two weeks ago.
An Israeli airstrike also hit a building in Jabaliya refugee camp, causing damage. No injuries were reported.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said the target was an office of the ruling Islamist group Hamas, located in the bombed building.
Mushir al-Masri, Hamas spokesman and a Palestinian lawmaker arrived at the site and said that the Israeli aggression will only further motivate the Palestinian resistance.
Earlier, Israeli troops fired a tank shell at a vehicle in Gaza, killing a Palestinian and wounding another, Palestinian medics said.
Palestinian security sources said the men were driving on the main road in the territory when they came across Israeli tanks and forces, who swept into central Gaza on Wednesday as part of a wider offensive against militants.
The security sources said the Palestinians reversed and then came under fire. The Israeli army said troops had shot in the air as the vehicle approached, then fired a tank shell at it when it drove within 30 metres of the forces.
Israel has launched several incursions into Gaza and has killed more than 80 Palestinians as part of the offensive, designed to stop militants firing rockets and to rescue a soldier captured in a cross-border raid on June
