They say the mission should also go to Uruguay to identify 11 bodies found on the coast there, to establish whether among them are those of five Uruguayan political refugees who disappeared recently. - Story Text: In answer to an appeal f???m the Committees for the Defence of Political Prisoners in Uruguay four people -- Uruguayans and French -- started a hunger strike in Paris on Monday (21 June)
SYNOPSIS The objective of the strike is to highlight the desperate situation of many thousands of political refugees in Argentina and Uruguay and in particular that of ex-Senator Enrique Erro -- who has been detained by the Argentine authorities for over a year.
The strikers want the French Embassy in Buenos Aires to do everything necessary to obtain the release of Senor Erro, whose life is said to be in danger. He has been granted political asylum in France. They are also demanding that the French government should offer asylum at the embassy for all political refugees who are being hunted by the Argentine police.
