- Story Text: - INTRO: Over 150 people, many of them children, are in hospital in the Ukrainian city of Shostka following a massive outbreak of food poisoning.
A total of 154 people have been struck down by a severe bout of food poisoning in the Ukrainian city of Shostka.
All the victims were rushed to hospital in the Sumy region, 300 km (180 miles) east of Kiev, at the weekend. Four remain in a critical condition. One ward is full of children and their parents.
The authorities have not been able to determine the cause of the food poisoning and health officials are investigating.
Street markets are common in Shostka and food is often eaten straight from the stalls without being washed first.
