- Story Text: President Obama signs documents to submit his nominations for top Cabinet officials following his inaugural address.
U.S. president Barack Obama signed documents to officially submit his top Cabinet nominations shortly after delivering his inaugural address on Monday (January 21).
Flanked by members of Congress at a signing ceremony in the U.S. Capitol, Obama nominated Senator John Kerry for secretary of state, John Brennan for director of the CIA, former Senator Chuck Hagel for secretary of defense, and Jack Lew for secretary of the treasury.
Obama also signed a proclamation entitled "National Day of Hope and Resolve, 2013" to commemorate the inauguration.
