- Story Text: INTRO: Islamic leaders have wrapped up their annual foreign ministers' meeting in Indonesia.
Islamic nations ended their annual foreign ministers' meeting in Jakarta on Friday (December 13) after condemning Israeli policies and expressing alarm that the Bosnian peace agreement was in jeopardy.
The 54-nation Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) also gave new impetus to economic cooperation, trade, development and investment during the five-day meeting.
The meeting also covered a range of other political issues, including Afghanistan, Somalia and the perennial issue of Indian rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
The OIC decided to leave Kabul's seat vacant during the Jakarta meeting, while urging all warring sides in Afghanistan to form a government of national unity.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati told a news conference on Thursday that there was no military solution to the conflict in neighbouring Afghanistan.
Former Moroccan Prime Minister Azzadine Laraki was elected unanimously as the sole candidate to the post of OIC secretary-general, replacing Niger's Hamid Algabid, whose eight-year term ends at the end of this month.
