- Story Text: Egypt beat Congo 4-nil at the Nasser Stadium in Cairo on Monday (11 March) to take third place in the African Nations Cup soccer championship.
Egypt led 2-nil at half-time with goals from forwards, Abdou and Sehata. Goresha scored Egypt's third goal, and Sehata scored again ten minutes before the end of the match.
The match attracted little interest from Cairo soccer followers--reportedly because Egypt had earlier been knocked out of the running for first place by Zaire. Only about 1,000 people watched the match, and the Nasser stadium--with a capacity of 100,000, looked almost bare.
The African Nations Cup final between Zaire and Zambia, was to be played the next day.
