- Story Text: A massive response is reported from Morocco to a call for blood donations for Arab casualties of the Middle East war.
On Monday (October 15th), long queues formed at the National Blood Transfusion centre in the capital, Rabat, and at transfusion centres in the Moroccan provinces.
The call for donations was widely publicised at the weekend, and all Moroccan citizens were asked to show their unconditional support of the Arab cause by giving blood.
Newspaper editorials said the strength of the Arab cause depended not only on arms, but on the ability to cure the wounded. With heavy fighting continuing on both fronts, said newspapers, blood was one of the most immediate needs of "our fighting brothers".
Moroccan citizens were thanked for the "nobility of their gesture", in offering blood donations.
Morocco -- which says it's prepared to send troops to support the Arab States -- has strongly urged the Arab oil producers to cut off supplies to Israel's supporters, in particular the United States.
Last week, 20,000 Moroccan ex-servicemen signed as volunteers to fight against Israel.
