- Story Text: INTRODUCTION: Delegates at a meeting of the Non-Aligned nations group in India have re-affirmed their support for liberation movements in southern Africa. The meeting, of the group's co-ordinating Bureau, opened in New Delhi on Thursday (7 April).
SYNOPSIS: The conference follows the Non-Aligned summit in Colombo, Sri Lanka, last year, which adopted an action programmed that included plans for closer economic co-operation. The summit decided to establish primary producer associations, create a fund for financing buffer stocks of raw materials, and establish a commercial merchant bank of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
The current conference is the first international gathering to be staged by Indian Prime Minister Morarji Desai's newly-elected government. Mr. Desai opened the meeting and stressed that his government will pursue a strictly non-aligned policy. He also expressed his support for liberation movements in southern Africa.
Similar sentiments were expressed by Yugoslavia's delegate.
