- Story Text: Libya's deputy prime minister and minister of finance and oil at the National Transitional Council, Ali Talhouni, said on Tuesday (August 30) that Libya is expected to resume oil production in the coming days after rehabilitating oil fields.
"In the coming days we expect that many oil fields will be rehabilitated," said Talhouni at a news conference in Tripoli.
NTC fighters moved into Tripoli earlier this month but clashes with forces loyal to Gaddafi continue near the major coastal oil terminals of Es-Sider and Ras Lanuf.
The OPEC member was producing 1.6 million barrels per day before an uprising began in February against leader Muammar Gaddafi. The civil war caused foreign workers to flee and some oilfields and export terminals were damaged. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
