Story Text: Brazil, which currently imports about 550,000 barrels of oil per day, hoped to become almost self-sufficient by 1985. Already, imports have dropped over the last three years. The reason for this is twofold -- one Brazilian car model now runs on alcohol, and more significantly, oil resources in the Campos Basin are now being systematically developed by the Brazilian company Petrobras.
