- Story Text: Some 800 experts from 19 countries have converged in Bangkok to discuss and exchange their ideas, innovations and experiences in the area of toilets.
The second World Toilet Expo and Forum was opened by Thai Minister of Public Health, Mongkol Na Songkla who flushed one of the many toilets placed on stage to mark the opening of the auspicious occasion.
This year's motto of the meeting is 'Happy Toilet, Healthy Life', where delegates attend the forum aid at alternative and total toilet solutions and educational platform.
Sanitary standard of public toilets in Thailand are said to be meeting the World Health Organization, most of the population aware of toilet, but Thai official concern of developments of high-tech toilet might give Thai user some confusion.
Toilet users in Thailand who used to traditional squat toilet are now familiar the seat one.
"We need to educate people of how to use different kind of toilets, anyway there are just small number of people who misuse the different kind of toilets and we will continue to educate them" said Mongkol Na Songkla, Minister of Public Health.
Development of toilets during the past decade has developed to the peak of it's technique, developers are now turn their trend to resource and energy saving, ecology, environmental friendly and easy to use to all, including elderly, children and disables.
"We can add so many things, some people say that it so much function, very hard to use that, but actually our function is very simple, people see just and it'll be very easy to understand the function, just press, it very easy to understand," said Seiichiro Sato, who represents Japanese's toilet developer, TOTO in Thailand.
To abide by Thai Government's sustainable economic policy, a Thai technology school has look back to the basic of toilet.
The simple toilet like 'R. Generation' came out recently along with flooding in Thailand's central region, where people in flooded area find themselves stranded between high rises water and the call of nature of going to toilet.
