- Story Text: Dutch FARC rebel sends message of solidarity to Palestinian fighters.
Colombia's FARC rebels expressed their support for the Palestinians on Thursday (November 29) during the last day of peace talks in Havana, Cuba.
FARC rebels and negotiators from the government arrived for the final day of peace talks in Havana, where they are trying to put an end to a civil war that has lasted nearly 50 years.
Before Thursday's talks began, FARC rebel and Dutch citizen Tanja Nijmeijer read a statement saying the FARC and the Palestinians are both fighting against 'imperialism'.
"FARC combatants would like to express to our brothers-in-resistance (referring to the Palestinians) our militant solidarity to the thousands of rebels who, thousands of miles away, combat a common enemy: Imperialism. From Bolivarian Colombia, for your Palestinian bullets, may peace be with you, sovereignty and your irrefutable state," Nijmeijer read.
The statement comes as the U.N. indicates it is set to implicitly recognise a sovereign state of Palestine in the 65th anniversary of the partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arab states. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
