- Story Text: An agreement on oil policy was signed between Algeria, Libya and Iraq in Algiers on Friday (22 May).
After a two day meeting at the Algerian Ministry of Power and Industry delegates form the three countries signed a treaty to set up a mutual aid fund. The delegates also agreed to co-operate on joint projects in the petroleum industry. The aim of the conference was to establish a common front against what was described as "International monopolies".
After the signing ceremony the Algerian delegate, M. Belaid Abdesselam, said he hopped all oil producing countries would eventually join the pact.
The Iraqi representative was M. Saadance Hamadi and M. Azzedine El-Mabrouk signed the agreement for Libya.
