REPORT: Argentina's president general Horge Rafael Videla, inaugurated a new petroleum refinery at Plaza Huincul in southern Argentina, during the President's fourth trip to the country's interior since the armed forces took power last March. The new distillery owned by the state oil company (YPF), will process 3,900 cubic meters of petroleum per day, a respectable increase over the 800 cubic meters the old refinery was processing to date. The new refinery will supply oil and others fuels to the whole of the Comahue area in southern Argentina, including the fuels for jets aircraft. The opening of the new refinery at Plaza Huincul is part of the new government's push to develop Argentina's oil resources and the vastly uninhabited area of Patagonia. Argentina is only ninety per cent sufficient in oil and imports ten per cent to cover its yearly needs. Initials Script is copyright Reuters Limited. All rights reserved
