- Story Text: A Tunisian convoy arriving from northern Tunisia on Friday (February 25) entered the border crossing between Tunis and Libya in an effort to deliver medicine food and money into Libya.
The convoy had posters of Gaddafi next to a hanging rope as well as the old Libyan flag which Gaddafi replaced with the all green flag in the 60s when he became the ruler of Libya.
"Just like we (Tunisians) have discovered we would like them to discover. The Libyans are our brothers and we are one and trust one another not just through words but through actions. We came from the north and brought with us all our Tunisian brothers so we can bring them money, equipment and our love and God willing we will be inside and stand with them," Sayed Ahmed a coordinator for the aid convoy said.
Hundreds of Egyptians woke up on Friday (February 25) at the camp grounds set up by the Tunisian army to accommodate Egyptian workers who left Libya to Tunis.
The army provided the Egyptians with food and drink as well as tents to spend the night while they coordinated efforts to get the Egyptians back home to Egypt after they had left Libya.
"I was worried […] because there was gun fire and things were being set on fire," said Ghassan from Egypt who was resident in Zawiyah.
Zawiyah is strategically important and there were reports of violence erupting in the town that falls between Tripoli and Tunisia.
"It was worrying in there. The army and soldiers were looking for Egyptians and we were scared," Khaled an Egyptian worker said. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
