- Story Text: Katy Perry sings to a crowded park at a Las Vegas campaign event for U.S. President Barack Obama.
Singer Katy Perry headlined an Obama campaign stop in Las Vegas, Nevada Wednesday night (October 24), as U.S. President Obama continued a two-day blitz of swing states.
Perry, performing in a tight dress resembling a voting ballot, also encouraged young voters to cast their ballots.
"How many of you guys are 18 in here? This is your first time, right? Let's do this tomorrow. You know, I got my poll outfit sorted, okay? Because when I go to the polls in California, it's going to be on point. It's going to be red, white, and blue for you now who. So you better do it. If not, I'm going to come and get you. No, really, honestly, it's such an honor to be here on this stage. I'm so excited to see Obama and to hear him speak. You excited?" Perry said.
The President argued his case to be re-elected.
"Nevada, you know me by now. You know I say what I mean, and I mean what I say. We haven't finished everything we set out to do in 2008, but you know every single day I set foot in that office, I am thinking about you. I am fighting for your families, and with your help, I've been keeping the commitments that I made," Obama said.
The President was expected to fly to Florida overnight, where he planned to campaign Thursday. He is expected to travel to swing-states Virginia and Ohio, also on Thursday. Additionally, he planned to stop in Illinois, where he is expected to cast his own ballot. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
