The head of the Congress Party and former Indian Minister prime minister, Rajiv Gandhi, took his general election campaign to Haryana in northern India on Wednesday (May 15).
A large crowd in the small rural town of Rewari had waited patiently in the heat for Gandhi, who was mobbed by supporters when he arrived in the early evening.
Gandhi told the crowd that if voted to power again he would ensure that economic development was resumed.
Polling will be on May 20, 23 and 26.
