- Story Text: Argentina's former President Juan Peron left Rome on Saturday (March 31) with Argentina's President-Elect, Dr. Hector Campora, to fly to Madrid to see Spain's General Franco.
The President-Elect was officially proclaimed on Friday as the winner in the elections aimed at restoring civilian rule in Argentina. At Madrid Airport, Dr. Campora said he had come to Spain to pay his respects to the leader and the people of what he called "this sister country".
He was joined by his young wife and Senor Peron for a private interview with General Franco.
Dr. Campora flew back to Rome after the five-hour visit to Spain. He will return directly to Buenos Aires from there.
SYNOPSIS: Argentina's former President Juan peron and President-Elect Doctor Hector Campora left Rome on Saturday for Spain, to visit General Franco. On Friday, Dr. Campora was officially proclaimed the winner in elections aimed at restoring civilian rule in Argentina. Senor Peron came to Rome to confer with his protege.
During the past week, Senor Peron and Doctor Campora have had talks with Italian political leaders and on Thursday Doctor Campora had an audience with Pope Paul.
At Madrid, Doctor Campora said he had come to Spain to pay his respects to the leader of a sister country.
