- Story Text: More than 300 university students in Bangkok, the Thailand capital, rode through the streets on Sunday (December 9) to encourage the public to leave their care at home and save fuel supplies.
The "Save Fuel" campaign has been strongly supported by the Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Adth Visutyothapibal.
Apart from the difficult world oil supply situation following recent price increases and the Arab oil production cutbacks, Thailand has been suffering from three weeks of Labour unrest. Several hundred oil workers were among those who went on strike.
The bicycle riding students set off from Thamasat University to ride ??? the Bangkok suburb of Thombri. No accidents or injuries were reported along the way. But the 300 bicycles caused some disruption to traffic in the city's congested streets.
