- Story Text: Iraqi guerrillas have attacked a U.S. military
camp in Baquba.
Iraqi guerrillas have attacked a U.S. military camp
in the town of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of the
capital. The attackers lobbed two mortar bombs into it
after nightfall and wounded eight soldiers, two seriously,
a U.S. officer said.
Lieutenant Colonel William Adamson said: "At 1830 hours
on Christmas night at Camp Gabe in Baquba, Iraq was
attacked by two mortars, appears to be two 120 millimetre
mortars, eight soldiers were wounded, two were critically
wounded and have been transported to medical facilities by
air.
"Four soldiers were ground-evaced to medical facilities
and two soldiers have been treated and returned to duty.
This took place in thr area of thr camp close to our ammo
dump, both 120 millimitres impacted close to the loving
areas and the solders are currentgly being assessed by
medical professionals."
