  • Story Text: An airplane carrying 140 undocumented immigrants, including many children, arrived in San Diego on Tuesday (July 1) amid reports of a growing number of people illegally crossing the U.S./Mexico border from Central America in the hopes of finding jobs and escaping violence in their home countries.
    The immigrants were then set to be bused to Murrieta, California for processing at a Border Patrol office.
    On Monday (June 30) U.S. President Barack Obama called the surge of immigrants crossing the southern border of the United States a 'humanitarian crisis' and said more than $2 billion is needed to address the problem.
    Among the crush of people crossing the border are many young children traveling by themselves in the hopes of reuniting with family in America.
