- Story Text: In Kosovo, where the majority of people are Muslims,
there is condemnation of the attacks on the World Trade Centre
and the Pentagon earlier in the week.
Hundreds of students from the University of Pristina
held a candlelit rally on Thursday (September 13) to show
sympathy with the victims of the attacks against U.S. targets
on Tuesday.
Their leader, Afrim Hosi, said Kosovars were best placed
to understand the suffering of Americans because of their
history under Serb rule.
He said the protest was held to: "To support and share
the tragedy of the United States because the people of Kosovo
in general and the students of Pristina especially know of
all people all over the world what is terrorism."
The students' stance underlines that many Muslim Kosovars
do not want to be associated with Islamic extremism.
