- Story Text: A barrage of mortars in Baghdad struck a petrol station at dawn on Sunday, killing at least eleven people and wounding 15 others, police said.
The police said nine mortars landed in the area in eastern Baghdad, destroying 13 cars and killing people lined up for fuel. Several also landed at another petrol station in another nearby district, wounding another six people.
"People were queuing at the petrol station and some of them were having their breakfast and others were filling their tanks with fuel. Mortars were fired on us from the (former) intelligence service building. Neither God, nor anyone can accept it can not accept this," said Abdul Razzaq Hadi, a resident of the area.
Baghdad residents often queue for hours at petrol stations for fuel, and insurgents have targetted them in the past. Suicide bombers attacked two petrol stations last Wednesday, killing 70 people. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
