- Story Text: An Israeli house was struck by a Palestinian rocket which Hamas militants claimed to have launched from Gaza after rejecting a truce bid by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Palestinian militants of Hamas claimed they had launched rockets into Israel on Sunday (May 25) which hit a house in Israel's rocket-battered town of Sderot.
At least one rocket slammed into a house in a populated neighbourhood, wounding two people and causing damage.
The latest volley followed an earlier rocket strike on Sderot which killed an Israeli man.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert pledged unlimited military action against the militant group, saying "no one involved in terror" would be immune.
Gaza militants have fired more than 220 rockets at Israel since May 15, the Israeli army said. Two Israelis were killed and dozens were wounded.
Israel has pressed an air offensive on Gaza to stop rocket fire on the Jewish state. 40 Palestinians, mainly militants, were killed in Israel's strikes in Gaza since mid-May.
The Islamist group Hamas, which claimed responsibility for rocket launching, rejected a truce bid by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for
its gunmen to halt rocket fire against Israel if the Jewish state were to agree in exchange to stop its attacks in Gaza.
