- Story Text: A seventeen year-old girl from the Jenin refugee camp in the West bank was the last of six Palestinians killed by Israeli troops on Saturday. Israeli forces killed at least six Palestinians on Saturday (April 21), including a 17-year-old girl shot dead in the West Bank.
According to Palestinian medical workers the teenager was hit as she stood at her window in Jenin refugee camp.
It was not immediately clear what the objective of the Israeli military action near the girl's home may have been.
The girl's mother told how she called out her name and then found her in a pool of blood.
Earlier in the most deadly incident of the day, an Israeli undercover unit killed three armed militants while they were driving in Jenin.
And in a nearby village a Palestinian policeman also died after being shot by Israeli forces.
In southern Israel, rockets fired by militants in Gaza hit houses in the town of Sderot. Some light injuries were reported. A pregnant woman helped down a ladder from her home was being trreated for shock.
An Israeli air-strike in northern Gaza occurred soon after, killing one Palestinian in a car which local residents said was probably leaving an area from where the rockets had been fired into Israel.
The Islamic militant Group Hamas held a rally late Saturday after the rocket attacks and air-strike. The rally was originally scheduled to mark the anniversary of the death of Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantissi, and to show support for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. However, Hamas leaders at the rally did condemn the Israeli airstrike. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
