- Story Text: Israeli war planes continued to pound the southern Gaza town of Rafah on Tuesday (January 13) near the coastal territory's border with Egypt.
A Reuters camera caught the moment missiles struck a direct hit on buildings in the town.
There was a huge explosion and a ball of flame followed by thick black smoke.
Residents were seen running away from the area.
In Israel, Defence Minister Ehud Barak said his forces would continue its operation against Hamas in Gaza.
Palestinian medical officials said at least 933 people in the Gaza Strip have been killed and nearly 4,000 wounded since Israel began its offensive in December 27.
The health minister in Gaza's Hamas-run government said close to 400 of those were women and children.
Thirteen Israelis -- 10 Israeli soldiers and three civilians hit by mortar bombs and rockets from the Gaza Strip -- have been killed since Israel launched the offensive with the declared aim of ending Hamas's cross-border strikes. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
