- Story Text: Five militants wearing police uniforms stormed a police station in the northwestern Pakistan town of Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday (January 14), killing four people and wounding eight, police officials said.
According to local media, one of the attackers was shot dead by soldiers as he tried to scale a wall. His body remained dangling from the wall until it was brought down by soldiers after the operation was over.
Police sources added that three of the militants were wearing explosive vests which they detonated inside the building.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik said details of the operation were still unclear.
"I think the position will become clearer by evening. The latest position is that the DPO (District Police Officer) has been injured. Some of our people have been martyred, and some have been injured. We will give you the full details when we get more information," he told reporters in Islamabad.
The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
