- Story Text: A man killed a family of two before carrying out a knife attack outside a primary school in Shanghai on Wednesday (March 27), injuring 11 people, including six children, Xinhua news agency reported.
Yu Jieying's eight-year-old grandson was one of those attacked as she was picking him up from school.
"He came and cut my grandson. A lot of blood spurted out suddenly. You can see it here. It was like he was killing a chicken. Blood spurted out of his head. I yelled out for help, my child is attacked. Then my grandson was moved aside," she said.
Zhu Zuolan's nine-year-old son was also being treated in intensive care after he was attacked.
"It happened to be the peak hour after school. Basically, many grandparents and parents were waiting outside to pick up their grandchildren or children. He suddenly rushed in. No one could react," he said.
The police sealed off the school gate after the incident and firemen sprayed water to clean the ground outside the school.
A woman, surnamed Lin, who runs a shop near the school, was a witness to the attack
"He cut below the ear, like this. The child was carrying his school bag with both of his hands in his pockets. When he made the cut, the child didn't even feel it, and the attacker ran away. Then he ran to Wanjiang Road and cut two other children. The rest I did not see," she said.
All the injured were being treated in a nearby hospital. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
