- Story Text: Hundreds of students gathered in Paris on Thursday (June 6) to show their support to a young man who was violently attacked by far-right activists in central Paris.
Clement Meric, a 19 year-old student at Sciences Po university in Paris and far-left activist, was violently assaulted by "skinheads" on Wednesday evening.
He was said to be in critical condition in a Paris hospital.
"There is definitely a political aspect to it, but right now is a time for mourning, it's a disaster for Sciences Po, for this young man, for his family, it's very disturbing," said Sciences Po student Marie Benoliel.
The French interior minister Manuel Valls earlier said this attack had been perpetrated by individuals from a far-right movement and was "politically motivated". - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
