- Story Text: The top security official in Libya's eastern city of Benghazi survived a car bomb attack on Monday (November 18) but the attack killed one of his guards.
Local witnesses said the attacker drove towards the vehicle carrying Colonel Abdullah al-Suayti before leaving the vehicle and running off as the blast went off.
"We were accompanying the military commander Abdullah al-Suayti and heading towards the military court with him when a car crossed into our side of incoming traffic and attacked Mr. Abdullah and his guards when the explosion occurred. The driver left the car before the blast and Wisam Saeed al-Farsi was martyred," said guard Jumaa Saleh.
The attack is the latest in a spate of bomb attacks and assassinations in the city.
