- Story Text: Three people were killed and 23 wounded by a bomb hidden in a bag at a coffee shop in northern Baghdad on Monday evening (March 20), police said.
"Two strange men walked into the coffee shop and asked the coffee shop owner for tea and then left without the bag and minutes later a blast happened. They were carrying a bag," Ali Hussein Saeed, a resident of the Kasra district where the attack took place, described on Tuesday (March 21).
Further East, four people were killed and ten people were wounded when a bomb exploded on Monday near a public bus garage in Baghdad's eastern district of Mashtal, police said.
Also on Monday, one policeman was killed and two were wounded when a suicide car bomb exploded near their checkpoint in Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, Baquba police said.
"I was sitting in the kiosk when a car drove past and exploded on them (policemen)," said a man who saw the blast.
U.S. and Iraqi forces have been battling a Sunni Arab insurgency against the Shi'ite- and Kurdish-led government. The bombing of a Shi'ite shrine on February 22 has been followed by a surge in sectarian attacks. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
