- Story Text: Three blasts targeting U.S. military convoy in the town of Baquba northeast of Baghdad left at least seven Iraqi civilians wounded, witnesses and police said on Thursday (February 16).
In the northern part of the city a donkey cart rigged with explosives was detonated close to a passing U.S. military convoy, wounding three civilians, they said.
The blast left the donkey in a pool of his blood by the side of the road and pieces of the cart wreckage were scattered all over the blast scene.
Witnesses said one U.S. Humvee was hit by the blast.
In the second blast northwest of the town a roadside bomb went off close to a passing U.S convoy, damaging a civilian minibus and wounding two of its passengers.
"We were driving near al-Rahma hospital as a U.S. military convoy was driving on opposite side. The bomb went off in front of the minibus when the U.S. convoy drove past. The car was damaged and the passengers were hurt," said driver of the minibus.
Meanwhile, a roadside bomb exploded in the town's western neighbourhood of Al-Mu'almeen as a U.S. convoy was driving in the area, wounding two civilians.
The U.S. military could not immediately be reached for a comment on the three attacks or reports on the casualties among the troops.
