  • Story Text: Thousands of Palestinians rallied in the streets of
    the Ain El Helwe refugee camp to protest Israel's ongoing
    attacks in the occupied territories.



    Thousands of Palestinians rallied in the streets of
    the Ian El Hewlett refugee camp on Friday (May 21, 2004) to
    protest Israel's ongoing attacks in the occupied territories.

    Representatives of a wide range of popular movements
    took part in the demonstration. Men, women and children
    marched carrying flags representing Palestinian parties.

    Others were dressed in white uniforms with mock explosives
    wrapped around their waists demonstrating their readiness
    for martyrdom. Others wore military uniforms and carried
    weapons.

    Protesters waved Palestinian flags and banners and some
    carried portraits of Palestinian leader Gasser Arafat.

    Khaled Aref, a representative of the Palestinian
    Liberation Organization in south Lebanon called for
    Palestinians around the world to protest.

    "We want to tell the entire world, that as of today, it
    has become the right for each Palestinian, wherever he/she
    is, and in all parts of the world, to fight this Zionist
    entity, with all the force he/she has, and with what they
    can get a hand on. It is our right to exploit this enemy,
    in all places, at all times, and wherever he is found, and
    whenever our hands are able to reach, and in all places,
    where our Palestinian people are found in the diaspora," he
    said.
