- Story Text: KLA units operating on Albania's northern border with
Kosovo have continued to carry out attacks against Serb forces
inside Kosovo, despite the peace deal.And Serb forces are
reported to have retaliated and shelled villages north of
Kukes.Aid agencies have continued to move the refugees from
camps close to the border to safer areas further south.
The Kosovo Liberation Army has said it will continue
its attacks on Serb forces inside Kosovo despite Belgrade's
acceptance of the peace plan.
It says it has no intention of laying down its arms, at
least not until Serb troops stop fighting and withdraw from
Kosovo.
Large numbers of KLA patrol the mountain borders between
Albanian and Kosovo and there are frequent exchanges of fire.
The United Nations refugee agency with the help of NATO is
continuing to relocate Kosovar refugees from camps in northern
Albania because they are too close to the fighting.
The UNHCR on Saturday (June 5) moved about 300 refugees
from Kukes to villages further south.
One refugee said he hoped with NATO help to be back home
in Kosovo very soon, but he and his family had agreed to go
elsewhere in order to continue the search for missing
relatives.
