    A Syrian-backed Palestinian guerrilla said on November 26 that the two Arab guerrillas who their gliders in an army camp in northern Israel fought an 'heroic battle'. Mahmoud Mechlawi of the South Lebanon Forces of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC), said the guerrillas landed their gliders inside the largest military camp in northern Israel late on November 25. He described how the fighters opened fire with a machine gun on officers and soldiers inside the camp. Speaking at a news conference at the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, south-east of Sidon, he described how one of the guerrillas then detonated an explosive belt, killing himself and several enemy soldiers. Mechlawi dressed in green fatigues, said the PFLP-GC maintained radio contact with the other guerrilla 'until 5 am on Thursday' (0300 GMT). He went on to say that the gliders had been developed by the PFLP-GC with the help of aviation experts.
