- Story Text: Whilst peace envoys flew to Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday (October 4) chasing an elusive deal to end the Yugoslav wars, the Balkans took stock of fresh battles in Bosnia.
Heavy artillery and infantry attacks were reported in Sanski Most in the northwest, Bosnian government radio said, adding that government lines in the area were stable.
On the frontline, some 25 km (15 miles) south of Sanski Most, near Krasulje, there were substantial Bosnian Serb Army (BSA) troop movements and heavy artillery attacks.
Reports have indicated an increase in fighting in the last couple of days despite United States peace envoy Richard Holbrooke's hectic diplomatic efforts.
In northwest Bosnia the Serbs made significant battlefield gains, capturing villages around the town of Kljuc in territory taken by government and Croat forces last month.
