- Story Text: Communist infiltrators into the capital of the Khmer Republic, Phnom Penh, scored a direct hit with a rocket on the top floor of the Prime Minister's three storey office building on Friday (December 1).
The attack was apparently timed to coincide with Prime Minister Hang Thun Hak's meeting with his cabinet. Police in Phnom Penh would not say whether the cabinet was meeting at the time. No one was injured in the attack, but the top floor, immediately above the cabinet room was set alight by the rocket.
A police spokesman said the rocket was fired from a vehicle in a road near the office block. Intelligence sources in Phnom Penh said that about five hundred saboteurs had recently infiltrated the city for rocket and explosive attacks on government buildings.
The day before the attack on the Prime Minister's office two students were killed and twenty other civilians wounded in a rocket attack on the provincial capital of Kompong Cham.
