- Story Text: One of the most important ARVN bases in the Khmer Republic came under attack from communist troops on Monday (20 March). At Neak Loung, southeast of Phnom Penh on the Mekong River, communist forces launched heavy rocket and mortar barrages, causing serious damage to buildings and military equipment.
Khmer General Sroy Meas arrived by helicopter to inspect the damage shortly after the attacks.
South Vietnamese troops at N???ak Loung base are stationed on the Mekong primarily to protect water routes from communist disruption. Large quantities of fuel are stored in dumps around the base to supply river landing craft.
Monday's attack seriously damaged buildings and equipment, but caused only light casualties.
