- Story Text: A Turkish owned satellite news truck comes under
attack in Irbil overnight
A bomb placed under a truck used by the Turkish
Ihlas News Agency (IHA) detonated outside a house used by
the agency's journalists on Tuesday (November 18, 2003) night,
but no one was killed in the attack, one of IHA personnel
said.
The live-uplink truck was completely destroyed in the
fire following the explosion. Local Iraqi authorities were
investigating the incident.
Nobody was hurt in the explosion as there were no IHA
staff in the truck when the bomb exploded. IHA has
be en operational in Northern Iraq for almost a
year. IHA located in Irbil before the Iraqi war.
Northern Iraq has been relatively peaceful since Saddam
Hussein was toppled by U.S.-led forces in April, unlike
Baghdad and areas to its north and west which have been
the scene of frequent violent attacks against occupying
authorities, international organizations and Iraqis
co-operating with them.
